Fertility clinics have medical doctors who specialize in fertility, reproductive health, and embryos. They are often endocrinologists and gynecologists. If someone is not able to become pregnant naturally, a fertility docotor can use several tests and diagnostic tools to find and treat the reasons for infertility. It can be due to the male partner (semen quality) or female partner (ovaries, eggs, fallopian tubes, uterus) or issues with both.
Fertility clinics offer many treatments such as hormones and fertility drugs to stimulate egg production, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and usage of egg donors or sperm donors. In Vitro Fertilization can be used to combine eggs and sperm in a lab.
If the fertility problems are related to fertilization and not the uterus, IVF can be a solution. Eggs are retreived during ovulation and fertilized in a lab. One or more embryos are then implanted directly into the uterus. If one of the parents is a carrier of a genetic disease, the embryos can be tested before implantation.
